Education

More than a business park

The IPKW is more than a business park To us, education and business are two areas able to enhance each other once they interconnect. That’s why we feel a strong urge to actively undertake to see them link up.

Hub manager Leonie Dijkhof is the person in charge of interconnecting schools and businesses. She informs businesses about the research and educational projects that are being undertaken and matches the right persons to the right parties. She also hosts student tours and events at the IPKW.

The O-Zone

We also work in close partnership with several schools and universities, such as the  HAN University of Applied Sciences (HAN). The IPKW and HAN have come together to set up the The O-Zone project. This is a hybrid learning environment that sees HAN students team up with businesses and research groups on energy-related projects that are part of their curriculum. The students involved with this come into contact with the latest technologies and the challenges of today’s world.

The The O-Zone project was set up in an attempt to meet the growing demand for properly equipped energy professionals. The O-Zone offers students the opportunity of encountering businesses at an early stage in their degree programme and also helps them learn how to collaborate within a project environment. The ‘O-Zone’ got its name in reference to the three O’s it was set up to serve, i.e. Education, Research and Enterprise [in Dutch: onderwijs, onderzoek and ondernemen]. The project also receives financial support from the Province of Gelderland.

Hybrid Learning Environments

The park has set up several areas where students can work on their innovative projects.

The Powerlab focuses on energy in the urban environment. This is a place where students hailing from a range of different programmes are brought together. Using a multidisciplinary approach, they try and tackle some of the challenges businesses are facing. Clean mobility is the main focus of the Mobility Innovation Center.

We do of course bring the potential and opportunities education has to offer to the attention of our tenants and in doing so, we try and facilitate and encourage interconnecting. These are some of the ways in which we’re hard at work trying to get the best out of each other’s qualities.
